Customer Profile

Established in 1998, TSFPC is a truly independent advice based mortgage brokerage breaking the mould of institutional- style selling and advice by operating a new, non-aligned mortgage business, client and service centred.

Business Needs

As a quickly growing company, TSFPC needed to find a technology partner that could provide them with the right solution to resolve their primary issues, which were:

¥ No current server based infrastructure
¥ Company data not centralised or permission based
¥ No way of sharing emails / appointments
¥ No reliable backup system
¥ No remote access to company data

In addition to this, TSFPC had a database which needed to be able to be accessed by employees working remotely. This database needed to be held on a server, would have to operate using remote desktop due to memory constraints, and would have to be able to service up to 5 users at any one time.

IT Support Proposal

NPIT proposed a solution based on Microsoft Small Business Server 2003 and Terminal services running on dual Dell Poweredge servers to provide exactly what TSFPC needed. On the primary server, Microsoft Exchange provided valuable collaboration and sharing of email, calendars, contacts and tasks, while the TSFPC data files and folders were configured with the relevant user permissions to maximise security. The second server was allocated as a terminal server to provide remote desktop access to multiple users, allowing them direct use of network resources and the TSFPC database. The 20 PCÕs and laptops accessing the network were all configured as part of the client/server infrastructure, the network was protected from viruses and spam by a combination of Trend Micro and Softscan products, and the backup was taken care of by the Attix5 online backup service.

Results

TSFPC now have a reliable, scalable infrastructure that allows them to work from anywhere in the world with real-time information at their fingertips. Their systems are fully managed and supported by NPIT, and both companies have grown as a result of their 3 year partnership.
