Backups
The use of the Attix 5™ online backup system in schools is currently being implemented in many schools throughout the country, primarily for their SIMS and office data, but also increasingly in an RM networked environment to maintain a backup of the data on the server, including all the personal files of all the teachers and students. The beauty of an online backup environment is that there is an end to one person having the responsibility for changing tapes, taking them home and making sure that the backup was successful. In many situations, the same tape is left in the server or the backup is not complete and in an emergency you find that you have to go back 2 months to find a working backup to restore from. Attix 5™ resolves all these problems and can be monitored remotely for performance.
What is the Attix 5 system?
Attix 5 online backup Fully Managed Solution:-
Security and peace of mind
Attix5™ Backup Professional software is the most secure product of its class in the world. This means that any sensitive data stored, transmitted or accessed online using Backup solutions is protected by ‘bank-level plus’ security. The backed up data, held on the Primary Storage Platforms, is replicated every 15 minutes and is transferred (via the IBM private network) to the Mirror Storage Platforms in a second remote data centre.
The data centres are run by Techgate PLC and are housed in highly secure disaster recovery buildings, owned and managed by IBM Business Continuity & Recovery Services. This fully resilient network system means that Techgate can offer up to 100% service availability and 100% redundancy across the Cable & Wireless, Energis and Level3 Communications Tier 1 Internet backbones.
Data backup, storage and retrieval
As a standard, incremental backups from a minimum of 30 days to a maximum of 60 days with 1 month-end roll-up are stored on the Storage Platform. At any time, daily versions of files are available for a minimum of 30 days to a maximum of 60 days with 1 month end roll-up, however this cycle can be changed to suit the schools requirement. The month end roll-ups can also be stored on a separate Storage Platform or copied to tape for archiving purposes.
Conclusion
There is no doubt that the cost of lost, deleted or corrupted data can be enormous. Schools both large and small can now eliminate the burden and associated data risk of manual tape-based procedures, saving time and money in the process.
Costs
Educational facilities and charities can benefit from a 20% reduction on the standard prices.
